Lý lịch tư pháp is a page in the file, not a prior errand
In plain termsLý lịch tư pháp is Vietnam’s criminal-record certificate. A work permit (WP) dossier includes it. DOLISA reads one bundle. A separate “police letter first” product is not the cell on file.

- Bundled in the dossier? yes

- New-issue window floor. 10 days
One bundle versus two queues
| What you were told | What the file actually is | If you split it |
|---|---|---|
| “Get lý lịch first, then we start the permit” | The certificate travels inside the same labour dossier. | You burn weeks on a solo queue and miss the issue window. |
| “Immigration wants the police letter for the visa” | This limb is the work-permit file at DOLISA. | You hand a criminal-record sheet to a visa agent as if it were a visa fee. |
| “We’ll file Monday and add the certificate in month two” | Bundled means the sheet belongs in the dossier, not as a sequel. | You start work on an incomplete file. |
| A home-country police check only | Counsel still maps which certificates the issuer will accept. Do not drop the Vietnam sheet because a UK DBS exists. | You staple a DBS and skip the bundled Vietnam certificate. |
Common wrong movesThe hub mentions the cell. This page closes the separate-queue door.
- Paying an agency for a “criminal record visa” that is not a labour form.
- Starting work because “the lý lịch appointment is booked.”
- Confusing this sheet with the health certificate on a renewal.
If the certificate is still in processThe dossier is not ready. The issue window still runs.
- Do not treat a booking slip as a work permit.
- Read start-before-issued if someone already planned a Monday start.

Common questions
Do I book lý lịch tư pháp before the company files the work permit?
The criminal-record certificate is bundled in the same work-permit dossier. It is not a separate labour appointment you complete first and then ‘start the real file’.
Who receives that dossier?
DOLISA — the provincial labour department. The criminal-record sheet travels with that file. It is not posted to Immigration as a stand-alone visa step.
Can we file the permit now and add the criminal record later?
The cell on file is that the certificate is bundled. A dossier missing it is an incomplete labour file, not a two-stage product.
