Do foreign lawyers need a Vietnam work permit?

The Vietnam practice licence is the gate. It replaces a work permit. A home-country bar card alone is not that licence. Unlicensed legal-adjacent staff stay on the ordinary employer door.

Can a foreign lawyer appear in a Vietnamese court?

No. The Law on Lawyers bars foreign lawyers from appearing as representative, defence counsel, or protector of a party before a Vietnamese court. Vietnamese-law advice needs a Vietnam LL.B. and the same requirements as a Vietnamese lawyer.

Do foreign lawyers need a Vietnam work permit?

The Vietnam practice licence is the gate. It replaces a work permit. A home-country bar card alone is not that licence. Unlicensed legal-adjacent staff stay on the ordinary employer door.
