Tourism & travel — agency payroll, not a tourist stamp

In plain termsForeigners earn in inbound agencies, destination management, and hotel tour desks. The money is local employment. A visa alone does not grant work (no).

What people actually do

Product managers, reservation leads, MICE coordinators inside travel houses, and hotel excursion desks. Coastal volume overlaps diving, hospitality, and events. Owning a travel company is own a business.

Labour stack

Foreign workers generally need a permit (yes). Positions: manager, executive, expert, technician. Expert / technician dossiers follow the work-permit experience limbs. Licensed Vietnamese tour-guide practice is a Ministry of Culture / tourism gate — not filed as FactValue cells yet; treat it as a published second gate when the role is regulated guiding, not invent exam fees here.

Stay LĐ, TRC capped at 2 years. Risk: forced exit or deportation. Short advisory visits under 90 days days/year — day-count exemption.

Tax

Resident worldwide (yes). Non-resident employment flat 20%.

Common questions

Can a foreigner work as a tour guide in Vietnam?
Agency ops, product, and sales roles for travel companies sit on the ordinary employer work-permit door. A licensed domestic tour-guide card is a separate tourism-sector gate — ThonExpat has not filed primary guide-licence cells. Do not treat a tourist stamp as a guide product.
Is diving or hospitality the same as tourism?
Overlap on the coast. Dive instructors deepen on /vietnam/earn/diving; hotel GMs on /vietnam/earn/hospitality. This page is travel-agency and destination operations payroll.
