Australian licences are treated as ordinary foreign national licences under the general exchange rule. There is no Australia-specific treaty for licences.

Can I exchange an international driving permit?

No. International driving permits are not exchangeable under the rules.

What stay paper do I need to exchange?

Can I exchange an Australian licence in Vietnam?

Australian licences are treated as ordinary foreign national licences under the general exchange rule. There is no Australia-specific treaty for licences.

Can I exchange an international driving permit?

No. International driving permits are not exchangeable under the rules.

What stay paper do I need to exchange?

Exchange needs a visa or TRC with at least 90 days remaining (or PR/diplomatic). The Vietnamese licence term is capped by remaining stay documents.

Do I need a work permit to exchange a licence?

No. The exchange cell keys to remaining visa or TRC time — not to labour permission.
