Can I get a TRC from a tourist stay?

Common questions

Can I get a temporary residence card on a tourist visa in Vietnam?

Not from the DL (tourist) symbol. Immigration Law lists the symbols that can lead to a TRC. DL is the tourism entry mark and is absent from that list.

Can I self-file a TRC if I have been in Vietnam a long time as a tourist?

No. The sponsor files. Length of a tourist stay does not add DL to the eligible-symbol list.

What if I switch to TT, LĐ, or ĐT first?

Then the question is whether that new symbol is on the eligible list — that is the TRC hub, not a tourist workaround.
