The passport expiry date is the real TRC ceiling

Common questions

My passport expires in 14 months. Can I get a 2-year labour TRC?

The TRC must end at least 30 days before the passport. A 2-year labour maximum does not punch through that buffer. Renew the passport, then file the card.

Does the same 30-day buffer apply to a visa?

Yes. The visa cell is the same idea: the visa must end at least 30 days before passport expiry.

Can Immigration just print a shorter TRC to match my passport?

The buffer still applies. A shorter card is a remaining-stay math problem, not a waiver of the 30 days. Do not assume a 2-year LĐ maximum if the passport cannot carry it.
